| Educating for Our Future |
| |
Governor Napolitano believes that a quality, modern education system -- from pre-k through the universities -- is the key to success for our children and for strong economic growth.
To help develop Arizona’s next generation of leaders, Governor Napolitano has: |
| |
- Fought for and secured historic raises in teacher pay.
- Created a new grade level by offering voluntary full-day kindergarten to every family in Arizona.
- Improved Arizona’s high school graduation rates, SAT and ACT scores.
- Made historic investments in Arizona’s universities to triple the state’s contribution to student financial aid, improve college graduation rates and increase enrollment at Arizona’s universities.
- Broke ground on Phoenix’s first medical school to address the critical shortage of doctors in Arizona.
- Led the successful effort to invest $400 million in research laboratory space at Arizona's state universities.
- Increased high school graduation requirements from two to four years of math, and from two to three years of science to ensure Arizona graduates are prepared for the 21st century economy.
- Challenged school districts to redeploy a nickel of every administrative dollar back into the classroom, resulting in millions of dollars in new classroom spending.
