Building the New Arizona Economy
Governor Napolitano believes the new Arizona economy is powered by innovation and driven by entrepreneurs, technology-based businesses and industries that create high-wage jobs.
To help these businesses thrive in our state, Governor Napolitano has:
- Attracted 484,500 new jobs and hundreds of business relocations and expansions in Arizona through a global campaign aimed at diversifying the State economy.
- Protected Arizona’s military installations, which bring 83,000 jobs and $5.7 billion to our economy each year.
- Spearheaded efforts to make Arizona the sports capital of the nation by securing the 2008 Super Bowl and the 2007 college bowl championship game. Estimated fiscal impact is $400 million in revenues.
- As Chair of the National Governors Association, brought together the nation’s governors, business, and academic leaders to develop new ways to propel our states and our country into the 21st century global economy.
- Created Science Foundation Arizona to diversify Arizona’s economy through science, engineering and medicine.
